Week 2 Shopping List

Because we have leftovers from last week (butter, onions, potatoes, pasta) we have enough room in our budget to bulk purchase cheese and eggs so we don’t have to buy them in week 3. The biggest item here is the frozen chicken. $7.99 is a big chunk of our budget but 3 pounds will last us almost until week 6.

The big “treat” this week is the zucchini. They were more expensive than I anticipated ($2.59 for two of them) but the zucchini pasta for this week is one of my favorite dishes and still comes in at  under a dollar a serving.

Another good staple is the corn tortillas. At $1.69, they work well with any combination of eggs, potatoes, beans, cheese, chicken, and all sorts of canned or frozen vegetables. Out of the package, they’re a little rubbery but just microwave them in a damp paper towel for 20 seconds or heat them up in a small frying pan.
