For the first week, we’ve got to get a lot of volume & calories on very little money. I’m not assuming you have any spices, so we just have to do with what we can. For most weeks, we’ll be able to have some carryover from our staple foods (eggs, bread, milk, potatoes, onions, sugar, oatmeal, pasta, cheese, butter) but this week we have to buy them all.
I accidentally got 2 salt shakers thinking it was a salt-pepper pack. If you need salt, you should be able to get a lot more than this for about 50 cents.
I also got the sausage and butter on sale (both were 50 cents cheaper than normal). If you need to make up that extra money, push the lentils off to next week since we don’t actually use them this week.
