Biscuits and Gravy Ingredients

Ingredients:

Biscuits

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoon butter
  • ¾ cup milk (as needed)

Sausage Gravy

  • 4 ounces pork sausage
  • 1 ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 ¼ cup milk

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees
  2. Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt.
  3. Cut in butter with a knife, fork. Do not use your hands. Cold butter in chunks will make the biscuits flakey.
  4. Mix in milk until dough pulls away from the bowl.
  5. For round biscuits, roll dough thick on a floured surface, cut into circles and place on baking sheet. You can also do drop biscuits by rolling them into balls and pressing them onto a baking sheet.
  6. Bake biscuits for 10-13 minutes.
  7. While biscuits bake, heat skillet to medium. When hot, drop ground sausage into skillet, cook into crumbled sausage.
  8. Mix in Italian seasoning. Sprinkle flour. Mix until combined.
  9. Mix in milk. Stir until thickened. Serve over hot biscuits.
