Ingredients:
Biscuits
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoon butter
- ¾ cup milk (as needed)
Sausage Gravy
- 4 ounces pork sausage
- 1 ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 ¼ cup milk
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees
- Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt.
- Cut in butter with a knife, fork. Do not use your hands. Cold butter in chunks will make the biscuits flakey.
- Mix in milk until dough pulls away from the bowl.
- For round biscuits, roll dough thick on a floured surface, cut into circles and place on baking sheet. You can also do drop biscuits by rolling them into balls and pressing them onto a baking sheet.
- Bake biscuits for 10-13 minutes.
- While biscuits bake, heat skillet to medium. When hot, drop ground sausage into skillet, cook into crumbled sausage.
- Mix in Italian seasoning. Sprinkle flour. Mix until combined.
- Mix in milk. Stir until thickened. Serve over hot biscuits.
